Common Dwells — Sea Ranch House

A Home Designed Around You

A Home Shaped by Rhythm

Designed by Common Dwells, Sea Ranch House is a West Vancouver residence shaped by the relationship between body, space, and the rhythms of daily life. Rooted in the studio’s circadian home philosophy, the design uses light, material, and atmosphere to create a home that feels calm, adaptive, and deeply restorative.

Originally designed in 1975 by Stuart Howard, the house remains closely connected to its landscape. Common Dwells preserved that relationship while reworking the interior with restraint and care, using natural materials, shifting light, and tactile contrast to create a sense of quiet movement throughout.

Our approach as a studio was to create a film that moved with that same intention. We focused on capturing Rebecca and Agustina’s vision for the circadian home through light, texture, rhythm, and daily ritual, allowing the house to reveal itself with patience and clarity. The result is a piece that reflects both the home and the philosophy behind it: calm, tactile, and quietly alive.
